Luther is situated in the mountainous region near Red Lodge. The community was named after the Luther Family, who were early settlers to the area. The first post office was established in 1907 with Grace Luther as postmaster.Luther is located in southern area of Montana, north of Red Lodge on Highway 78 (The Donald J. Ruhl Medal of Honor Highway).
