The Gold Coin Mine was full of surprises. Several times it closed down when its gold ore ran out, but later exploration always brought forth a new ore pocket. The mill is set against a hillside, dotted with trees. Around the mill are several sheds, and workshops. This mill is not completely deserted. The first post office was established in 1897, closing in 1899. Charles Beaton was the postmaster in charge.
