This lake may be accessed from a campground at the south end and by turn-outs along the Loon Lake Road. It is a long narrow lake, a total of 26 acres. It is deep in the middle and has shallow dropoffs. Loon Lake offers fair fishing for 7- to 15-inch brook trout and an occasional cutthroat; ice fishing is also fair. There are two boat ramps that make boating on Loon Lake easy, camping is also available. Tom Poole Lake trailhead and nearby Seventeen Mile Creek provide additional recreation opportunities. Directions: From Libby, travel northwest on Pipe Creek Road 68 for 20 miles to Loon Lake Road 471. Turn and follow approximately 2.5 miles over a winding dirt road.
