Poorman Creek offers about 4 miles of fishable stream (averaging 20 feet wide and 10 inches deep), most of which has a high resident habitat suitability. The pool quality, along with instream and bank cover is good. Rainbow trout (up to 9 inches in length) and Dolly Varden (up to 10 inches) inhabit most of the stream. Howard Lake Campground, off-trail hiking into the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness, and easy access to several other streams offer additional recreational opportunities in the area. Directions: From Libby, travel 13 miles south on Highway 2 to the Libby Creek turnoff. Travel 8 miles on Libby Creek Road 231 to Bear Creek cutoff 278. Turn and follow the signs to Poorman Creek Road. There is easy access at three bridge crossings, and at occasional points off Poorman Creek road.
