Quality pools and good instream cover provide fishing spots along certain reaches of the stream. Ramsey creek averages 18 feet wide and 16 inches deep. Rainbow trout (5 - 9 inches) and Dolly Varden (5 - 10 inches) are the primary fish species. Old growth cedar, hemlock, white pine, and spruce are common along the stream banks. Howard Lake Campground, off-trail hiking, and several other streams accessed by Road 278 offer additional recreational opportunities in the area. Directions: From Libby, travel 13 miles south on Highway 2 to the Libby Creek road turnoff. Travel 8 miles on Libby Creek Road 231 to Bear Creek Road 278 and turn right (south). Follow the signs to the Ramsey Creek Road. There is easy access at two bridge crossings off the Ramsey Creek road. Ramsey Creek Kootenai National Forest, Libby, MT 59923
