The lower 8 miles of Swamp creek provides fair-to-good fishing for eastern brook and rainbow trout. The creek is on National Forest for 2 of the 8 fishable miles, the remainder is on private land in two large segments. State regulations require that permission be obtained from landowners before fishing. Directions: Travel south 2 miles from Fortine on US Highway 93 and turn right onto Fortine Creek Road 36. Drive 12 miles south on Fortine Creek Road 36 to junction with Forest Service Road 48 to Swamp Creek .If traveling north past Dickey Lake on US Highway 93, turn left at the north end of Dickey lake at the Trego turnoff, which meets the Fortine Creek Road within 3 miles. Travel south 9 miles to the junction of Forest Service Road 48 .Drive west on Forest Service Road 48, across Fortine Creek and proceed for 2 miles to the junction of Forest Service Road 48 and Swamp Creek Road 494 (which heads to the right and after 3 miles becomes Forest service Road 3553). Follow Road 3553 for 3 miles to reach the uppermost fishable portions of Swamp creek. Forest service Road 48 continues to the left, and if followed for 2 miles will come close to a marshy portion of the creek.
