This museum holds two of the finest collections of western memorabilia in the country-the lifelong collections of Don Cappa and Desert John Blomquist. Cappa's collections includes many different types of guns used in the Old West, including the .41 caliber double-action Colt Lightning pistol made famous by Billy the Kid, and the Hammond Bulldog named after Doc Holidays mistress and the guardian angel, Big Nose Kate. In the back of the museum, you'll find Desert John's Saloon, with a bar that dates back to the 1800s, and hundreds of antique liquor bottles dating back to the Civil War. Directions: Frontier Museum is located on Main Street in Deer Lodge off Interstate I-90 using exits 184 or 187. It is located in the Old Montana Prison Complex, which houses six unique museums inside its historic prison walls. The complex includes the Old Montana Prison, Montana Law Enforcement Museum, Powell County Museum, Frontier Montana Museum, Yesterday's Playthings, and the New Vintage Car and Transportation Museum.
