Lewistown has evolved from a small trading post to a ranching and business center during the homestead era. Today, you can catch a glimpse of the past at the Central Montana Museum through pioneer relics, blacksmith and cowboy tools, guns, Native American artifacts and artwork. While visiting Lewistown, don't miss the Silk Stocking Historic District located in the 200 block of West Boulevard and the 300 block of Third Avenue North. It is primarily homes built by those who profited from the trading boom between 1905 and 1919. Another attraction in Lewistown is the Lewistown Art Center located on the corner of Eighth Avenue and Broadway. In the vicinity of the Historic Fergus County Courthouse, erected about 1907.
