Glacier National Park is a spectacular place to visit anytime of the year. But it's really special in the winter when deep snow blankets the ground. The pleasures of winter travel are tallied in the pink cast of alpinglow on snowy peaks, the basins full of untouched powder and the silence of a starry winter night. From late November through May 1st, Glacier Park Ski Tours is available to custom design a ski tour or snowshoe trip to the interests and skill level of your group. Day trips, full moon trips or extended trips (sleeping igloos or snowcaves) are available. Also, in conjunction with the local downhill ski area, we offer a package of 1 day of lift served telemark lessons then a day of backcountry skiing in Glacier putting newly learned skills into use. All of our guides are certified members of the professional ski instructors association, Nordic ski patrol or both. They are skilled in winter mountaineering, avalanche safety and fist aid. Along with being knowledgeable in the natural history of Glacier Park. Winter offers unparalleled opportunity for solitude in Glacier. On an average winter day in December there are 160 visitors in the Park in July there are 16,000! For further information call 1-800-646-6043 extension 3724.
