Trolley Tour - Old No. #1 is a replica of the cars used for Butte's original electric trolley system. The car was designed and built in Butte in 1971, with its first run in June 1972. Over 200,000 visitors have traveled Butte streets on Old No. #1. In addition to providing Butte tours for out-of-town visitors and residents, the car is used for parades and local promotions. Drivers are especially chosen because of their knowledge of Butte history and folklore which is presented in an entertaining manner during the one and a half hour narrative presentation. Builders utilized seats from one of the original cars and you'll hear one of the original bells as you begin your journey into Butte's historic past.Sightseeing tour includes: National Historic District, Victorian neighborhoods, Copper King Mansion, Dumas Brothel Museum, Piccaddily Museum of Transportation, Art Chateau, Mai Wah, and our Lady of the Rockies only stop Berkeley Pit viewing stand. The Butte Chamber of Commerce is open from 8:00am to 6:00pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Directions: Trolley Tour - Old No. #1 begins at the Chamber, Visitor and Transportation center in Butte. Take exit 126, Montana Street, go north and we are the first street, George Street. Proceed east one block.
