Big River Lodge, nestled along the banks of the fabled Gallatin River, is the perfect base from which to experience the richness of southwestern Montana. Dallas and Debbie Marvil, the owners and managers, will be your hosts. The cabins are all newly constructed, and the main lodge recently renovated from an existing structure. The main lodge building is where you will enjoy all of your meals, and there are decks on the front and back for relaxation and cocktails. Meals are prepared by one of the region's top chefs, and local micro-brews and fine wines are included in your stay.

Each of the three River cabins are very large (about 1500 sq. ft), with 2 bedrooms downstairs, each with 1 queen bed and 1 private bath, a loft upstairs with two more queen beds (no bath), a large open-ceiling living room, kitchen and deck. There are also private laundry facilities, wood stoves, data ports, phones and TV/VCR's. Each of the two Cliff cabins have one bedroom downstairs with 1 queen bed and large private bath, a loft upstairs with 1 queen bed (no bath). There are also wood stoves, data ports, phones and TV/VCRs. There is one large private suite in the Main Lodge with a full bath, sitting area and private deck area. Each of the accommodations capture the spirit of old Montana, yet provide guests with the latest creature comforts.

Meetings and small group gatherings have found a special home at Big River Lodge, thanks to our on site Conference Center. Accommodating up to 22 people, the Conference Center features the latest technology to meet all your business presentation needs.

The great location of the lodge affords easy access to all the activities that make the area so perfect for so many people. Fishing on the Gallatin that runs right through the property is an option, as are guided trips on the Yellowstone, Lower and Upper Madison, and streams in Yellowstone Park. Naturalist trips to Yellowstone, whitewater rafting on the Gallatin and horseback rides are all trips that can be arranged through the lodge or before you get here. Mountain biking and hiking from the lodge are also options.

Meals and accommodations are included in your stay. All activities are charged separately, or you can make your own arrangements. Be aware that popular activities such as guided fly fishing and guided naturalist trips should be reserved well in advance. The lodge's mountain bikes are available for guest use.

If you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, as long as we know in advance, we will try to accommodate every guest's dietary preferences, however, on occasion we will not have certain items requested. Dining is family style and dinner is usually served at 8:00 pm with cocktails and hors d' oeuvres starting at 7:00. For special occasions, in cabin dining is available. Please let us know in advance.

Lodge staff gratuity, tax, and beer and wine are included in the 15% surcharge that is automatically added to your total bill, so you don't have to worry about extra expenses.

There is no kids program at the lodge, but there are many activities that children can participate in.

Directions: Big River Lodge can be found from the Bozeman Airport. Take a right on the Frontage Road and come into the town of Belgrade and stop at the first stop sign. Turn left on Broadway Avenue, which will curve to the right, come past the IGA supermarket, and the first stop will be at Jackrabbit Lane. Turn left on Jackrabbit and cross over the I-90 overpass. Follow this road for about 7 miles to the next light at Four Corners. Continue straight on Highway 191 to head into Gallatin Canyon for 16 miles, look for the brown Forest Service signs for Squaw Creek/Spire Rock Campground. Turn left and cross over the Gallatin River, and turn left again immediately after you've crossed over the bridge. Follow this road 100 yards and go through the lodge entrance (large wooden gate). Drive about 1/3 mile down the gravel driveway, which follows the river beneath the cliffs, to the lodge. The total drive will take you about 45 minutes.
