Welcome to Double Circle Ranch Hayride. We offer horse drawn hayrides on our ranch which is located just 10 minutes east of historic Fort Benton. Although we are close to town, we are secluded enough that a ride with us can feel like stepping into the old west. We have a real working ranch and we enjoy sharing it with our guests while striving to provide them a safe, pleasant visit, rich in western ranching heritage. In addition to the ranch livestock, wildlife such as mule deer, white tail, various water fowl and an occasional pheasant can be seen. Let our big draft horses and wagon transport you back into another time. Your journey will take you moseying across our land along Shonkin Creek to the mighty Missouri River. The mouth of Shonkin Creek was the location of a construction yard for mackinaws. The name Shonkin is probably derived from 'Chantier', French for 'yard of a ship'. In June 1805, Lewis and Clark referred to Shonkin Creek as Snow River in their journals. When we think of cowboys, horses and cattle, visions arise of lone cowhands moseying out on widespread ranges. This is our stock image of the cowboy. But an equally important side of ranching and cattle production is the small place. It's the ranch that runs a hundred head or so of beef, the modest operation that is greatly overshadowed by the big outfits. So let an old fashioned hayride show you a working ranch. Everyone is welcome here. We also cater to private parties with sizzling steak fries.
