Blackfoot-Clearwater Wildlife Management Area encompasses 65,489 acres. Management goal: To provide winter range for elk primarily, and for white-tailed and mule deer secondarily. Hunting opportunities: A-7 licenses and deer B tags required via the statewide special drawing process to hunt elk and deer during the general hunting season. Archery, upland bird, black bear and waterfowl hunting open to licensed hunters during open season. Wildlife viewing: Elk viewing from Clearwater Junction at dawn or dusk (with luck) during winter months. Bird watching from May 15 to mid-November includes the opportunity to see waterfowl, osprey, eagles, shorebirds, owls, cranes, curlews, and woodpeckers. Also, deer, badgers, coyotes, beavers and occasional black bears.
