O'Connell Ranch Lyons Creek Easement encompasses 4,154 acres. Management goal: To conserve and protect in perpetuity in wildlife habitat while providing public hunting access. Hunting opportunities: Lyons Creek - Archery and rifle seasons for elk, mule deer, white-tailed deer, and black bear are open to licensed hunters, with permission required from the O'Connell Ranch. No permission is required for fall hunting on the Sieben Ranch, although spring black bear hunting requires landowner permission. Hunting opportunities also exist for blue and ruffed grouse. Wildlife viewing: Lyons Creek - Elk, mule deer, white-tailed deer, and black bear are year-long residents (deer and elk may be scared in severe winters). A host of birds and small mammals are year-long or seasonal residents. Other species include lynx, wolverines, bobcats, mountain lions, coyotes, wolves, beavers and muskrats. A family of grizzly bears is also known to frequent the drainage. Lyons Creek is an important spawning stream for brown, rainbow and brook trout. Wildlife viewing requires landowner permission.
