North Woods is located on five wooded acres on the lower slopes of Grouse Mountain 1 and 1/2 miles west of downtown Whitefish. Completed in early 2001, the accommodations include one one-bedroom and two studio suites. These spaces are being offered as nightly, weekly, and extended stay rentals. We offer you an alternative to hotel or motel lodging at reasonable prices.
Each of the North Woods suites is furnished 'Montana style' with log and pine furniture, and a queen size bed and a queen length couch to accommodate an extra person or family member. Each unit has a full size bath. All kitchens are fully equipped and include a microwave oven. Linens, satellite TV system, VCR, and direct line telephones are provided (free local calls, credit or calling card acceptable for long distance). Suites are individually air conditioned for your added comfort.
'Elk Lodge' is a south and west view studio suite and 'Moose Lodge' is a south & east view studio suite. They share a large redwood deck that looks south into the 'North Woods' on Grouse Mountain. Each unit has a table and deck chairs and share a gas barbecue grill.
'Bear Den' is an east view garden level one-bedroom suite. In addition to the privacy of a separate bedroom, 'Bear Den' also features a larger kitchen area with additional cabinet space. It has its own deck with table, chairs, and gas grill with views looking to the north and west.
The property has two seasonal ponds that attract ducks and other wildlife. Wild turkeys wonder the property as well as white tail deer. Grouse, pheasant, squirrels, and chipmunks are a few of our other visitors. A nature trail circles up Grouse Mountain providing a grand view of Big Mt. and the surrounding area.
North Woods is a convenient and comfortable base from which to explore the many wonders of the Flathead Valley, Glacier National Park, and the northern Rockies.
Directions: North Woods Montana is located 1 and 1/2 miles west of downtown Whitefish. We're less than 1/2 mile passed the Whitefish Golf Course and tennis courts on the left-hand side of the highway and set back about 450 feet. Amtrak Depot is 1 1/2 miles and Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) is located 13 miles away.
