CL Ranch includes eight miles of groomed trails, with a trailhead that starts you skiing at about 6,000 feet high in the foothills of the Crazy Mountains. Skim across the open pastures with views of Emigrant Peak more than 50 miles to the south and the Big Belts another 50 miles to the northwest. Ski a little farther and you're into the trees, where the marked trails twist through thin stands of timber. Skiing costs $10 per day, per person. Pay at the trailhead at a well-marked honor box, which includes maps of the ranch and mandatory liability release forms.

Directions: The CL Ranch is about eight miles northeast of Clyde Park. Take US Highway 89 north through Clyde Park. About a mile north of town, turn east on Cottonwood Bench Road and follow it toward the Crazy Mountains. Small orange signs that say 'ski' mark the route, at all major intersections.
