As its name suggests, SkyArbor Guest House is situated where the trees reach for the sky and the mountains meet the plains. This 'edge' region supports abundant wildlife such as deer, antelope, grouse and an occasional elk or bear. Around the home you will find Douglas Fir, Limber Pine and Juniper, abundant wildflowers in season and resident and migratory songbirds, rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels. Sunrises glow upon the Bridger Mountains in the western horizon, while sunsets glow back upon the Crazys to the east.
On the 22 acres, you can find several sites from which to view six mountain ranges'Beartooth Plateau, Absaroka, Gallatin, Bridger, Big Belt, and Crazy. Spread out a picnic meal and enjoy the magnificent topography, or play horseshoes, make a campfire, or relax in the chairs on the deck. In the nearby Crazy Mountains you can hike to lakes or creeks. The Shields River offers fishing just minutes away, or in 35 minutes you can fish, float or hike the fabled Yellowstone River. Yellowstone Park is less than two hours and Bridger Ski Area, Bozeman and Big Timber are each about an hour away.
The house itself has a bedroom on the main floor, and two lofts, each with a double bed (one having an additional futon bed). In the center room there is a dining area, wood stove and hearth, kitchen and living area. On the main floor there is also a study and sofa, and sun room with sofa, easy chairs, and TV/VCR. There is one downstairs bathroom with shower. A washer and dryer are provided, as well as bedding and kitchen supplies. Each room has a wonderful view.
SkyArbor is accessed by a private, quarter-mile lane off a county road. It is available all year; however, during months of wintertime snow, access will usually be limited to those who can walk in. Whatever the season, it will delight those who want to roam the countryside, or just relax with sky and landscape.
Directions: SkyArbor Guest House is located in the beautiful foothills of the Crazy Mountains; about 35 miles north of Livingston. The Bozeman airport is about an hour away. Directions to home provided upon reservations.
