Step back in time in a beautiful, historic setting. 'Just Your Era' antiques occupies what was originally the Chappell Block, built in 1911 at the cost of $30,000 by entrepreneur Stephen Chappell. Built of Hebron Brick from North Dakota, the building is typical of early 20th-century western architecture. The top floor, originally the Chappel Hotel, boasted the most modern accommodations in eastern Montana. A pharmacy operated on premises beginning in 1912. Many pharmaceutical items, including prescriptions, herbal tonics, bottled remedies, medical texts and advertising are on display. From 1949 to 1975, Marcus Drug Store occupied the building. Here customers could fill a prescription, buy a camera, browse the magazine racks and enjoy a thick malt made with 'Betsy's Best' ice cream. Teenagers gathered after school at the soda fountain for ice-cold Coca-Cola. Today, many Wibaux residents recall their first job as a 'soda jerk' at Marcus Drug, which was listed on the National Historic Register in 1988. In 1992 Linda Hutchins, a Wibaux native purchased the property. Linda, a graphic artist and antique dealer, eager to return to her eastern Montana roots, moved to Wibaux to update and renovate the historic property. Optimism and elbow grease have resulted in one of the most remarkable antique shops in Montana. Customers delight in authentic surroundings that include the original 15 foot tin ceiling and polished maple flooring. Furniture renovations include installing globe lights, the 9 foot soda fountain, green and white striped awning, jukebox and aquiring many of the original display units. Once again we offer thick malts and milkshakes, cones, floats, old fashioned candy and fresh ground coffee - all accompanied by 'golden oldies' on the player piano.
