Story Cottage is an 'important element in the streetscape of seven small turn of the century houses.' The Park District was originally deeded to Nelson Story in 1872. One of the earliest settlers of Bozeman, Story drove the first herd of cattle up from Texas in 1866 and was the last private 'Freighter' to supply Union Fortifications along the 'Bloody Bozeman Trail' when that area was returned to the Sioux nation in 1868.
