The Willows Retreat is nearly 4000 sq. ft. of comfy solitude. The house is tastefully decorated in a Northwestern flavor. There are sleeping accommodations for up to 10 people in 5 different bedrooms. (1 king size bed, 3 queens, 2 twins). Additional sleeping for 4 people is provided on the futon upstairs or on the comfortable double size hide-a-bed in the family room. There is a modern kitchen and a dining table that can seat up to 12 with additional seating on a nearby picnic table. You can cook up a storm outside on the cook deck on either the gas or charcoal grills. Two large gathering areas both include gas fireplaces to keep you warm on winter nights or chilly summer mornings. One gathering area has a TV / VCR/DVD with plenty of family style movies to watch as well as satellite TV. There are plenty of decks and porches to enjoy the fresh air or to star watch at night. Listen for the lonely howl of coyotes and wolves or enjoy a hot cup of coffee as the sun comes up. Play games (provided) over a bowl of popcorn and hot chocolate or nestle in a big comfy chair to read a book or just to watch the snow fall. No matter when you come you are sure to thoroughly enjoy your stay at The Willows Retreat! Our retreat offers something for everyone. Our home is situated at 6700 ft. elevation on 12 acres at the top of Grayling Arm on Hebgen Lake. We are nestled down in a willow habitat where you will often see deer and moose grazing, coyotes hunting and Sand Hill cranes with their babies. Don't be surprised if you see a grizzly bear, black bears, buffalo or even wolves at this elevation. Take a hike onto the forest service land that surrounds our property on two sides and enjoy wildflowers, beaver dams and many more types of birds and wildlife along Grayling Creek that flows into nearby Hebgen Lake. Hebgen Lake is home to some of the best lake fly fishing in the world. The blue ribbon waters of the Gallatin and Madison are within close driving range. You can watch the elk graze on the mountain nearby or drive to Yellowstone Park only 8 miles away. Yellowstone National Park offers exciting vistas and a new area to explore everywhere you go. There are geo-thermal areas with spectacular Old Faithful and other geysers and bubbling mud pots, to breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Fish on the Firehole River or the Gibbon, or hike the many trails and/or watch hundreds of buffalo and elk graze and nurture their young. While you are exploring, plan a day trip to the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole just 2-1/2 hours away. The small town of West Yellowstone offers fine dining as well as plenty of pizza and burgers. There are quaint book shops, galleries, and antiques for the shoppers in the family. Grizzly Discovery Center is also located in West Yellowstone along with a tiny theater and a state of the art IMAX theater. Big Sky is only 40 minutes North in the Gallatin Canyon and offers world class skiing in the winter as well as breathtaking tram rides in the summer. Book an exciting white water raft trip on the Gallatin River. Trail rides and mountain biking trails are all close by. In the winter take in miles of snowmobiling trails around West Yellowstone or travel to nearby Island Park, Idaho, for more trails.
