Queen of Montana Rivers, the Yellowstone, 678 miles of the last free flowing waters in the Continental U.S. rushes through the National Park and slows down through spectacular Paradise Valley, starting point for our float. Mountain men, fur trappers, Indians and later Clark's return in 1806 have put the Yellowstone basin on the map. Clark writes: 'This river waters one of the fairest portions, a country not yet hunted, and abounding in animals of the fur kind'. Take the chance to see bison and elk up close while hiking the Nez Perce Trail, learn from Nez Perce guides about events leading up to their tragic flight in 1877, visit the Bighole Battlefield and explore Old Faithful Geyser Basin. Then paddle the crisp, clear blue- ribbon river while taking in views of the saw-toothed Absaroka Mountains. Price: $1075 Dates: July 3-8, 2005 and August 21-26, 2005
