Montana River Guides provides guided fly fishing trips featuring the Missouri River, the Blackfoot River and private mountain lakes. All trips are day trips (lunch included) with emphasis on personalized service and warm hospitality. The Missouri River is a world class tailwater fishery resembling a giant spring creek. Rainbows outnumber browns approximately 8 to 1. Fish average 15 inches to 17 inches with larger fish 19 inches to 21 inches. Caddis, PMD's, Tricos, midges, and terrestrials are primary insect hatches. We use 16 foot driftboats for transportation and fishing. Montana River Guides can provide all float tubes and fins when fishing private lakes. These lakes feature rainbows averaging 18 inches to 20 inches with large fish 4 to 5 lbs. We fish damsel fly, Callebaetis, and terrestrial patterns. The Blackfoot River offers a combination of rainbows, browns, and cutthroats averaging 10 inches to 14 inches with larger fish 18 inches to 20 inches. One can expect to fish a variety of attractor dry flies and bead head nymph patterns. Avon rafts are used for floating and fishing.
