Anaconda Hills Golf Course is an 18 hole public course known for its scenic views of Great Falls and short, but very challenging layout in the hills of Black Eagle. The original ( front) 9 dates from the 1920's when it was created by the anaconda mining/smelter company for its employees. It features short, hilly Par 4 holes, 3 long difficult Par 3 holes and the extremely tough Par 5 ninth hole. The front 9 greens are small and fiercely sloped. While the front 9 is framed with hundreds of Cottonwood trees, the back 9 (opened in 1992) explores a rugged ravine with fantastic views of Great Falls and the old smelter property. The back 9 greens are large, undulating, and guarded by grass bunkers and water. The tall fescue roughs and natural rolls leave many comparing it to the Scottish links where golf began. With an incredible variety of shot values and playability, Anaconda Hills is fun and challenging for golfers of all skill levels.
