Avalanche Creek Campground is located within Glacier National Park north of Lake McDonald at an elevation of 3,500 feet. Fishing may be enjoyed on Avalanche Lake (a two mile hike); the best fishing is in June and July. This campground is fully accessible campsite for the disabled. Fifty camp sites will accommodate vehicles or vehicle assemblies to 26 feet. Boat tours are available on Lake McDonald, departing from the Lake McDonald Lodge boat dock which is south of the Avalanche Campground. Nature trails may also be found at the campground. There is a store, cafe and gift shop also located near the Lodge. The maximum recommended trailer length for the area is 26 feet. Please limit your stay to 7 days. You will be asked to pay a small fee for the use of this campground. Directions: Avalanche Creek Campground is located 5 miles northeast of Lake McDonald on Going-to-the-Sun-Road.
