Ackley Lake, named after an early settler and frontiersman, offers diverse water sports opportunities. Stocked with rainbow trout, the lake is often good angling for 10 to 15 inch fish. The elevation of the park is 4,336 feet and is 160 acres in size. This park has been designated as 'Primitive' so there are no fees to use the site. There are 23 sites with vault toilets, picnic tables, grills/firerings, group use area, drinking water (5/1 - 9/30) and pets are allowed, but must be on leash. The maximum length of stay is 14 days during a 30 day period. There is a golf course and museum located nearby in Lewistown. This park is pack-in/pack-out. Directions: To find Ackley Lake State Park travel 17 miles west of Lewistown on U.S. 87 to Hobson, then 5 miles south on Secondary 400, then 2 miles southwest on county road.
