The Heritage Museum is a 12-sided log structure 130' in diameter and is manned by volunteers. The exhibits portray the various peoples that came into the area - Kootenai Indians, trappers, miners, lumber men, and women. There is also a small house, furnished in turn-of-the-century styles; an art gallery; exhibits by the Forest Service, mining interests, and the lumber industry. We also have some items belonging to the Porter collection, including artifacts and paintings, featured in the main building. The other buildings located on the grounds include a miner's cabin, an old forestry cookhouse, and other old buildings that will be used to house special features. Outside exhibits include old mine milling, lumbering, old agricultural machinery, and a Shay locomotive.
Directions: Heritage Museum is located 1/2 mile south of Libby on US Highway 2.
