The Art Museum of Missoula exhibits contemporary art of the region. Now in its 27th year, the Art Museum has grown from a summer arts festival to a thriving institution serving the Northwest. Accredited by the American Association of Museums since 1987. the Art Museum develops and hosts 12 to 16 exhibitions annually in three galleries housed in a 1903 Carnegie Library building. The exhibition program encompasses diverse media from local and internationally recognized contemporary artists, showcasing emerging, mid-career and elder artists. A permanent collection of contemporary artists includes works by Rudy Autio, Dale Chihuly, Miriam Schapiro and Walter Hook to name a few. The museum also offers traveling exhibits, a small shop with contemporary art books for sale and a slate full of community events including lectures, slide shows, receptions, art classes and community forums. Directions: The Art Museum of Missoula is located at 335 North Pattee in downtown Missoula. Exit Orange Street, turn left on Pine Street and continue until you reach Pattee.
