The heritage of First Lutheran Church dates back to 1898 when Missionary Pastor L.A.K. Carson of the Norwegian Lutheran Church began his work in Miles City. He rode the Northern Pacific Railroad, holding services from Glendive to Helena. The First Lutheran Church in Glendive has some interesting history. Available to view are some official documents in Swedish from a November 12, 1905 meeting. The Ladies Aid Society raised the money to pay for the land for the first church through various projects. English and Norwegian services were held until 1921. First Lutheran has been broadcasting the worship service over the radio since 1955. The Moller pipe organ was installed in 1979. Our congregation is proud of our western and agricultural heritage, our Scandinavian independence and Lutheran theology. Come join us in worship Sundays at 10:00am.
