Rugg's Outfitting L.L.C. is a full service year round outfitting family involving 3 generations. Since 1947 we have been providing western experiences for people of all ages. Are you ready for the outdoor experience of a lifetime' Then join us for an exciting high adventure pack trip into the beautiful and majestic Bitterroot Mountains on the state line between Montana and Idaho. Experience abundant wildlife; deer, elk, moose, bear, coyote, eagles to name a few, all in their natural habitat. See the Big Sky and the wide open spaces unchanged for centuries. Smell the sweet smell of hundreds of different wildflowers along with the pine trees and other foliage that provide habitat for all of the animals mentioned and hundreds more.
Ride the mountain trails that the Indians rode and were later used by trappers, prospectors, and pioneers who explored and settled the wild west. View the many mountain lakes that sparkle like so many diamonds in a giant box of jewels, their glass like surface rippled by the mountain breezes or a native cutthroat trout as he rises to take a fly. Hear the roar and feel the cool mist of a waterfall as a spring fed mountain stream winds its way through the rocks to the valleys below.
Picture a campfire, tent and a meal of beef steak, expertly cooked with all the trimmings, served in a mountain meadow at 6000' as a doe deer with two fawns curiously skirt camp. Observe billions of stars as they twinkle in the great western sky.
Gentle well trained mountain horses and our friendly experienced guide, packer and cook can provide all this and much more on a three, five or seven day pack trip into the state line back country considered by many to be one of the best kept secrets in Montana and Idaho.
All you need is a sleeping bag, a change of clothes, and personal hygiene articles. The cost is $200.00 per day per person, minimum four to a party. Custom trips are available, so let us help you plan a trip to fit your time and needs.
