City: Glacier National Park Montana
Region: Glacier Country
406-888-7800

Firebrand Pass Trail begins at a false summit near Marrias Pass and on the north bank of the Coonsa Creek . It follows the creek for about 0.5 mile and then veers north climbing slightly to a junction with Autumn Creek Trail. To reach the pass hikers will turn north at this junction and follow the Autumn Creek trail for about 1 mile. The trail at this point leaves the forest and enters a meadow near the junction with Firebrand Pass trail. At this point the trail heads west. Climbing around the slopes of Calf Robe Mountain, hikers will have views of Squaw Mountain and Red Crow Mountain as they reach the north slope of Calf Robe Mountain. Fires in the early 1900s burned both sides of the Pass. On the north ridge of Calf Robe Mountain the trail passes above the headwaters of Railroad Creek. The trail then climbs steeply to the southwest of the pass. From the pass, hikers will descend a steep open slope to Debris Creek, which they will cross. From this point hikers travel westward above Ole Creek along a wooded bench. Within a 0.5 mile, the trail passes an unnamed pond and then continues for one mile and passes around the north shore of Ole Lake to a campground. The trail then crosses an outlet stream and begins a long descent to the Ole Creek Valley floor. At this point the hiker begins a long descent of 15.5 miles along the Ole Creek Trail to Izaak Walton Ranger Station.
