Four person capacity; cost $20.00. This lookout was built in 1924 and actively used for detecting forest fires for over 30 years. Abandoned in the 1950's, it has recently been renovated by Forest Service crews. It is equipped with a wood stove, table, bench, shovel, bucket, and cleaning gear. Due to vandalism, however, these items are not guaranteed. The lookout is not wired for electricity and has an outside toilet. We recommend taking your own water as all open water is considered contaminated. Reservations are required. Trail access within 3.5 miles of Road No. 494. Normally plowed within 14 miles of cabin. Directions: McGuire Lookout Cabin is located 14 miles south of Eureka. From Eureka, southwest 14 miles to Othorp Lake Road 854. Turn and follow approximately 13 miles to Pinkham Creek Road 856. Turn onto Sutton Ridge Road 494 and follow to Little Sutton Mountain. A sign marks the beginning of the 2-mile trail. McGuire Lookout Cabin Kootenai National Forest, Eureka, MT 59917
