Whitetail Campground is located on the Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana at an elevation of 3,000 feet. This campground is located approximately 7 miles from the small northwest community of Yaak. Found amid tall timber and lush green forest, this site is also adjacent to the beautiful Yaak River. It is in a remote area of the State, heavily timbered, with numerous wildlife species. Fishing, wildlife viewing, hiking, and picnicking are among the activities to be enjoyed at Whitetail Campground. There are 12 campsites to choose from. Drinking water is available from a hand pump and restrooms are provided. Pets are welcome, but they must be kept on leashes. The fee for the use of this campground is $7 a day. Please limit your stay to 14 days. Directions: From Troy, travel west on US Highway 2 for 10 miles to the junction with State Highway 508, approximately 4 miles from the Montana/Idaho border.
