Located on the Lewis and Clark Trail, the Broad Axe Lodge is a small, scenic resort nestled in a meadow on the East Fork of the Bitterroot River and surrounded by National Forest. We have four spacious cabins which are complete guest homes with kitchens, full baths, queen beds and are fully furnished. Our lodge consists of a dining room and lounge, open during dinner hours. Our cabin and dinner guests often see Bighorn sheep and other wildlife on the hillsides. We have been designated a Montana Wildlife Viewing Area. Activities are simple, but abundant, including fishing, hiking, wildlife watching, nearby cross-country and downhill skiing and big game hunting. Trail rides, fishing guides and float trips can be easily arranged. Our dining room serves Filet Mignon steaks, Prime Rib, fresh fish and Shrimp Scampi, among the menu and daily special selections. We are also noted for our homemade bread and desserts. Cocktails and a complete wine list are available. Binoculars are provided as diners frequently spot Bighorn sheep, deer, elk and an occasional bear on the surrounding hills. We are open year round and welcome summer vacationers and fly fishermen as well as big game hunters in the fall and downhill and cross country skiers in the winter. The Broad Axe Lodge has the distinction of being on the Lewis and Clark Trail and near the famous Ross' Hole historic meeting place.
