One of the first things new cooks learn at Johnson's Cafe, is how to bake bread. All Family Style Specials include a basket of fresh baked, homemade bread. Family Style Breakfasts (The Papa, The Mama, and The Kristin) include a 'special of the day' cooked eggs and breakfast meat, served together with hash browns on one large serving platter. You also get a basket of toast, of course. Everyone at the table then serves themselves from the serving platter. You need to ask how the eggs are being cooked and what the meat of the day is. Family Style Lunches are generally served with a large bowl of soup (with a ladle) and a basket of bread. People fill their individual bowls right at their table. Family Style Dinners come with soup, bread, salad or a vegetable, potato and the special meat entre of the day. Fried Chicken, served with Ruth's famous biscuits and coleslaw, is the special every Sunday.
