The Wilderness Motel is situated in the scenic Bitterroot Valley on Highway 93, one hour from Missoula and thirty miles to the Idaho border. The Sapphire Mountains are to the East and the gorgeous Bitterroot Mountains are to the West Just minutes away are the East and the West Fork of the Bitterroot River, known for some of the finest fishing in the country. The motel is close to Lake Como, Painted Rocks Lake, and 3.5 million acres of untouched wilderness.
The Wilderness Motel is a perfect starting point to experience Montana's out-of-doors through all of the seasons by hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, rafting, downhill or cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling on Lost Trail Powder Mountain. The motel was built in the 1930's. It has been newly renovated to offer increased comfort while maintaining its charming characteristics and Western atmosphere. We can accommodate the single traveler for one night or your family for an extended stay. There are twelve rooms, some with kitchenettes. We provide a bunkhouse that can sleep 6, and for the RVer, 14 full RV hook-ups and a spacious area for camping. Within walking distance, you find restaurants and cafes, gift shops, antique mall, casino, original Western bars, museum, library, churches, supermarket, post office, bank, and much more.
Directions: The Wilderness Motel & RV Park is located on Highway 93 at the south end of Darby, 62 miles from Missoula and 31 miles from the Idaho border and Lost Trail ski area, and about halfway between Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park.
