Thunder Bow Outfitters is based in the Swan River Valley in Western Montana. We are permitted in several areas in Western Montana: The Bob Marshall Wilderness, Bitterroot-Selway Wilderness (1.3 million acres) Swan River State Forest, Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest (Pioneer Mountains). These areas are known worldwide for their concentrations of trophy elk, Mule and Whitetail Deer, Moose, Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Lion & four color phases of Black Bear. Trips with this outstanding outfitter will be conducted from 3,000-10,000 feet above sea level. Spike camps will be reached by foot or horseback. Having such a large area to hunt, no canyons are hunted more often than twice a season.(canyons average 20 to 30 square miles each). Guides are normally provided for every two hunters, but one-on-one hunts are also available. Record book animals are taken frequently and both archery and rifle hunters enjoy excellent success ratios. Drop camp hunts are provided at very reasonable rates for those who wish to hunt on their own.
Fishing in the alpine lakes is reached on horseback or by foot. Float trips on the Swan or Bitterroot rivers are also available. Our fishermen will enjoy casting for several species of trout including, Browns, Rainbows, Brookies, Dolly Varden and famous Cutthroat. Thrill to watching two-pound Cutthroats rising only a few feet away, and cruising in crystal clear water, tempting any angler. Awaken to the smells of fresh coffee brewing, flapjacks, trout sizzling, all prepared by your guide. It's a memorable way to start a mountain morning!
Directions: Thunder Bow Outfitters' main office is located at mile marker 40.5, just off of Guest Ranch Road. We are between the Bob Marshall Wilderness and the Mission Mountain Wilderness in the Swan Valley.
