East Glacier Park's first post office was established in 1950 with Cleola Ralston as postmaster. East Glacier Park is within the Blackfeet Indian Reservation boundaries and is part of an area historically and culturally important to the Blackfeet.
Early national park visitors pulled in on the train heading from the east, to spend the night at Glacier Park Lodge before saddling up for a backcountry ride in the company of a guide.
East Glacier Park is located in northwestern Montana, situated on the east side of Glacier National Park at the junctions of U.S. Highway 2 and Montana Highway 49, 13 miles southwest of Browning.
