Elmo is situated on the Big Arm of the Flathead Lake on the Flathead Indian Reservation. Nearby is Chief Cliff, a spiritual site to reservation Indians. Some say an Indian Maiden can be seen standing on this cliff. Elmo is also the site of the Standing Arrow Powwow during the third weekend of July. Hosted by the Kootenai Nation, this celebration features ritual dancing, songs, games and good. This opportunity to experience Native American culture is open to the public.
Elmo is located in northwestern Montana, north of Polson at the junctions of U.S. Highway 93 and Montana Highway 28.
