Milltown is located in the forested western potion of the state and finds its origins as a lumber mill town. The town has gone by several names: Riverside, because of its location to the Clark Fork and Blackfoot rivers; and then later Finntown, in recognition of the town's Finish heritage. The mill was acquired by Marcus Daly, who used the wood to further his mining empire.
Milltown is located in western of Montana, 4 miles east of Missoula on I-90.
