Denton was named for the Dent brothers, who owned the land on which the first townsite was located. In 1888, the first post office was established with Harry Dent as postmaster. Denton is a farming community with high yields of grain.
Found in the heartland of Judith Basin, Denton is one of the top dryland farm production and cattle production communities in the state. This town is the turnaround point for the Charlie Russell Chew Choo, which is central Montana's dinner train.
Denton is located in central Montana, southeast of Fort Benton on Montana Highway 81.
